Julep Alfre

Happy Labor Day!  Hope you guys have some good plans going on for today...here I am, still trying to figure out how to end the summer with a bang...go fig!

Anyways, here is the last of my Julep polish swatches from my sneak peak box.  This one is Alfre, and is part of Julep's Fall 2011 collection which has yet to be released.  To be honest, I really wasn't a huge fan of this color in the bottle, and it looked really familiar to me because of the fact that it's a distinguished color.  Sure enough, when I got home and looked through my polishes, I found one that is M.I.G.H.T.Y. close to Alfre. Hint: It's a China Glaze color.  I'll do a post later of my comparison.

To be honest, this actually isn't a bad color.  It's not my favorite, I'm not a fan of frosty colors, but the shade definitely is nice for the Fall. As with Julep Cameron, application was very opaque after 1 coat, but I did 2 just to even out some of the streakiness.

My camera can't really pick up the color of Alfre, but it's a frosted purple/grey, more purple than grey-toned.  No topcoat for the pictures and it's still very much shiny on it's own.  Once again, another great polish from Julep.  Not my favorite color, but hey, who has ever liked every shade of every color before?

What are your thoughts of Alfre?

Have a Happy Labor Day, guys!

Julep Cameron

Good morning!  It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and I'm about to head out to a Zumba class!  Has anyone tried it before? It's so much fun and an hour later my face is beet red and I'm hot like a tamale! LOL.

Before I go, I wanted to give you a swatch of Cameron from my first Julep Maven box.  I really fell in love with this color when I first saw that it was part of my Julep American Beauty Style!  It's pink beyond pink, classy enough for work, yet fun enough for the weekends.

I put 2 coats, even though with 1 it was nearly opaque.  No topcoat, and look at how shiny this baby is still! I really liked the brush too, it made it so easy to apply the polish.

My only complaint is that the bottle size is way smaller than your average bottle, obviously giving you much less product for a higher price than other designer brands.  But I think Julep can pull that off because I'm really in love with the quality level of their products and customer service.  Seriously, you will get emails from them often just keeping you updated on your orders, etc. Will I be keeping my monthly Julep Maven membership? Oh heck yea...

Anyone else sign up to be a Maven?  You can read what that is HERE on my other post.

Julep Maven Sneak Peak Box!

Many of you may have already heard about Julep and their Maven Program, but if you haven't, let me give you a little background.
According to Julep's site:

"We launched our new Julep Maven program to give all of our girlfriends access to the beauty editor Sneak Peek Box we create every month.  As a Julep Maven, you will have access to the hottest trends in nail color and the latest Mani Care and Pedi Care products - delivered right to your doorstep, just like the beauty editors do.  And you'll have access to these trends and products before anyone else."

Here's how it works.  You go to Julep's site and take their style quiz. Depending on your answers, Julep will tell you what style you are and what will be coming in your first Maven box.  Not sure if this code still works, but at checkout, enter coupon code " FB" to get your first box for $5.00!  If this code doesn't work, then you can enter code "WELCOME" to receive $5.00 off your box.

My style was American Beauty. These are the goodies that I received in my first box:
I received a nail treatment, 2 polishes, a full sized glycolic hand scrub and samples of hand cream.

Nail Therapy. Dries superfast and has an almost floral juniper scent to it.

Cameron- A gorgeous pink

Alfre - one of their yet to be released Fall 2011 colors

The great things with this Maven program are:
  • each month, you pay $19.99 for a box of Julep goodies that are worth over $50
  • you get $15 credit for every person you refer to the program
  • you get 20% off and free shipping on any orders you place through Julep outside of your monthly subscription
  • you can pause, cancel or redirect any box as a gift for no charge

So far, I am a huge fan of Julep, and I can't wait to receive my September box!  Go take your style quiz and get your first box now! If you aren't a fan, you can always cancel!

Good morning!
Barielle is having a great sale all month long (ends Sept. 30)! Just go to their Facebook page HERE, sign up for their newsletter, then they will email you a code that can be redeemed for 50% off storewide on their website at www. Barielle.com

And don't forget, ALL of their polishes are currently BOGO.

While you're there, don't forget to enter for a chance to win Barielle's entire Summer 2011 collection! I have 3 out of the 6, and I love them all!

P.S. During Barielle's last big sale, I stocked up on polishes of course, BUT, I also tried out another product of theirs - their 60 Second Mani-Pedi exfoliator.  This stuff is amazing! My hands are really dry from all of the acetone and the dry air at my job, but this product really takes all the dry, cracked skin and transforms it! (My fiance even uses it and is a fan...that's when you know a product is good ;) )

China Glaze Orange Knockout (Neon)

Finally, a swatch post!  But first, I have some good news...WE GOT OUR POWER BACK!!!!
Ok, now to the good stuff.  I have to show you guys this color before summer is officially over.  It's Orange Knockout from China Glaze.  I have to say, this color is one of those colors that leans towards either red or orange depending on the lighting or time of day.  I really love that because it's like wearing 2 polishes at once!  I also love that this is neon in the perfect setting. Indoors, no, but outside in the sun? Hello, lady! This thing is fierce!

This is 2 coats with no top coat (and look how shiny it is on its own!). I could have done a third but I kinda liked the way it was sheer yet opaque enough.  As with almost all of my China Glazes, application was lovely.  Not streaky, not watery, not thick, just China Glaze perfection..ahhh.

What do you think?
