My Memories Suite Giveaway!

Hi everyone!

Some exciting news!  Recently I was contacted by My Memories Suite Software company to review their product and host a giveaway!
My Memories is an award winning digital scrapbook software that is extremely easy and fun to use (I've had the opportunity to use it myself!). They're rated #1 by Amazon and TopTen Reviews, which is very good to know!

Though they mainly advertise as a scrapbooking software, they do so much more.  Anyone can create digital scrapbooks, photobooks, cards, calendars and gifts without having to buy expensive and complicated software programs.

Ok, ok. I know what you're thinking..."Umm..Jess? You do realize this is a nail polish blog, right?" Yes! I haven't gone bonkers...not yet anyways ;) But I thought, anyone could benefit from this software. We all have birthdays, we all celebrate holidays, we all take pictures, and some of us even have blogs. Well, as I gave this software a go, I quickly noticed how easy it was to create whatever it was I had in mind!

Do you like my new blog banner up top? Yep, I created it with the software in, ohhh, about 5 minutes...FROM SCRATCH hehe..

This really is an all-purpose software.  I can't wait to use it to create some fun pages for my nail swatches!

So onto the fun part!  My Memories has been generous enough to provide a My Memories Suite software to one lucky follower for free (normally a $40 value!). All you have to do is fill out the form below to enter for a chance to win. The more entries you complete, the higher your odds!  This giveaway will end Tuesday, December 20, 2011.

But wait, that's not all!  As a special for all of my readers, My Memories also provided me with my own Share the Memories code that provides a $10 discount off the purchase of the My Memories Suite Scrapbook software and a $10 coupon for the MyMemories.com store - $20 value!) China Glaze Near Dark and It's Alive

Hi everyone!
It's the night before Halloween, a.k.a., Mischief Night.  Tonight's the night I make sure to move my car from the street to the driveway because kids like to go around egging and toilet paper'ing peoples cars...good grief!  Oh well, on to the polish, shall we?

Today I have 2 China Glaze polishes from their 2011 Haunting collection.  Near Dark is a deep green jelly that was very difficult for me to capture in pictures. It was showing black, but I managed to get a few pictures that show its true color.  Over it, I layered It's Alive, a mixture of different sized swampy green glitter.

Each polish was 2 coats each. By now, you guys know I love China Glaze, and these 2 polishes just add to my love for them.  Near dark is such a lovely jelly that is gorgeous in the sunlight because it shows it's green hues. And It's Alive is a swampy green goodness of glitter that looks gorgeous layered over ND.  I have to say though, that It's Alive is a topcoat eater! I had to put a big glob of SV over each nail then smooth it over.

Soooo..thoughts?? Do you own either of these polishes?

Fantasy Makers Purple Potion

Hi everyone!
I'm sure you have seen these cute little tombstones all over the place! These come from Fantasy Makers, from the makers of Wet n Wild.  You can find these at Ulta, CVS, Walgreens, just about anywhere.  This polish is Purple Potion, a purple glitter in a black base.

This was very easy to apply.  The brush, as I had expected because it is Wet n Wild, isn't the most stable, but I've learned to manage and not make a complete mess when applying their polishes.  This was 2 coats and I am very pleased with it!

Soooo...thoughts?? Do you own Purple Potion?

Wet n Wild Correction Tape - On the Prowl Collection pt 7

Hi everyone!
I've got 2 polishes for you today. For my base, I used an unnamed pumpkin-shaped polish from Rite-Aid and for the glitter top coat I used 1 coat of WnW Correction Tape. Surprisingly for an unnamed, unbranded polish that costs $1.99, the formula of the pumpkin polish was actually pretty easy to work with and I liked the tint it gave my nails.

The pumpkin polish glows in the dark quite well and matches up nicely with the big name polishes in that department. (To see a comparison of GITD polishes, click HERE). And Correction tape is just so yummy over it! It reminds me of a bubblegum birthday cake! By the way, if that exists, let me know! hehe

All in all, I just love this combo and can't wait to layer Correction Tape over other polishes! :)

Soooooo...thoughts?

Week 2: 11 Week Mani Challenge

Hi everyone!
Here it is. Week 2 of the Challenge which is a mani inspired by an upcoming holiday. To go along with my Halloween polish posts, I decided to do a Halloween manicure.  I'm not very creative when it comes to thinking of nail art, so I took to Google and went to work!

Instantly I found this page HERE and I decided that it was possible for me to attempt to recreate it. Her nail art is crazy cool and I'm so glad I came across it!

I hope I did it some kind of justice! LOL. I've always stayed away from nail art because I just kept it in my head that I couldn't do it, therefore, never attempted it. But as I was doing this mani, I really had fun! So hopefully I will do the occasional nail art attempt here and there.

Thumb: Candy corn - Barielle Soul-er Powered (yellow), China Glaze Code Orange (orange), Orly Pointe Blanche (white)

Index: Stripes/Ghosts - O.P.I. Meep-Meep-Meep (magenta), Color Club Art Club nail striper in black, Orly Pointe Blanche

Middle: Jack-o-Lantern - ChG Code Orange, CC Art Club nail striper in black

Ring: Spider and Web - Color Club Electronica (purple), CC Art Club nail striper in white (web), Barielle Soul-er Powered (eyes), O.P.I. Meep-Meep-Meep (eyes)

Pinky: diagonal stripes - Orly Pointe Blanche, CC Art Club nail striper in black, unnamed Pumpkin crescent moon and hex glitter polish

Wet n Wild Cougar Attack - On the Prowl Collection pt 6

Hi everyone!
I've got a real treat for you today!  This one's a beauty! Cougar Attack is a variety of burnt orange hex glitter in a black jelly base.  It's just like Behind Closed Doors in the application and jelly finish.  2 coats of pure magic.  I love this polish so much. It's definitely a very unique color and is PERFECT for Halloween time!

Look at the coverage of this baby! So packed with glitter with 2 coats!

Sooooo...thoughts? What do you think of Cougar Attack?

Wet n Wild Tangled In My Web - On the Prowl Collection pt 5 and N.Y.C. Pumpkin

Hi everyone!
I'm really excited about this glitter from the On the Prowl collection. Tangled In My Web is a black hex glitter in a clear jelly base. I love it! I've tried it over light colors, dark colors, other glitters...I just love its versatility! I layerd TIMB over N.Y.C. Pumpkin which is such a great orange! 1 coat was pretty opaque, but I used 2 to even it out over the whole nail.

So how many coats do you think it took for me to get all these litter glitters on my nails? Anyone?
1 coat!! This little bottle is just chock full o' glitter, it's amazing!

Soooo..thoughts? I think this is one of those glitter polishes that you either love or hate. Me? I lurveee it! How about you??

Wet n Wild Behind Closed Doors - On the Prowl Collection pt 4

Hi everyone!
I better get cracking on getting to these Halloween polishes because pretty soon Halloween will be over!  So here we go, today's color is Wet n Wild's Behind Closed Doors.  Out of the entire On the Prowl collection, I think this is the polish that most people wanted because it seemed to be a dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Ruby Red Slippers.  As I don't own the DL polish, I can't really say for sure, but from what I've seen in picture comparisons online, they look pretty close.

2 coats worn alone

Index and Middle: 2 coats over Fresh Paint Delicious
Ring and Pinky: 2 coats over China Glaze Liquid Leather

This polish is so versatile, I can wear it alone and be happy, or wear it over different colors and still be happy. Although, my favorite is wearing it over a jelly black like China Glaze's Liquid Leather.  This is pretty shiny for a glittery polish too.  A lot of glitter polishes dry matte or dull, but this one is so shiny and squishy!

Sooooo...thoughts?  Do you own the DL polish? Would you say this BCD is a dupe?

Week 1: 11 Week Manicure Challenge

Hi everyone!

So here we are! My Week 1 post of the Challenge.

This week's challenge is a mani inspired by your favorite cause/charity. I couldn't decide which charity or cause is my favorite because there is just no way to pick one. So I picked one of the charities that I actually contribute to - the ASPCA- The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

I have a special credit card that donates a certain percentage a year to the ASPCA depending on how much I use it. You know who the ASPCA are; they have those super sad commercials on t.v. that show these poor, defenseless animals who have been abused.  I am a huge animal lover and I find it so heartbreaking that so many of them need us to protect them :/

So here is my ASPCA mani.

Thumb: Leopard print: 2 coats of Sinful Colors Nirvana for the base. Dots of Sinful Colors Flirting Nails. Then with my dotting tool, I drew black lines around the dots using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Black Out.

Index: Tiger print: 2 coats of NYC Pumpkin and with the same black SH polish I drew lines with my nail striping brush

Middle: Zebra print: 1 coat of Konad Special Nail Polish in white and the using stamping plate m69, I stamped the zebra stripes with the same black SH polish

Ring: Giraffe print: 2 coats of Sinful Colors Flirting Nails and with my striping brush I striped lines with Orly Pure Porcelain

Pinky: Pig: 1 base color of Orly Pure Porcelain, the same black SH polish for the eyes and ears using my dotting tool, and China Glaze Mom's Chiffon for the ears and the snout.

Soooooo...what do you think? What's your favorite cause/charity?

Wet n Wild Jungle Fever - On the Prowl Collection pt 3

Hi everyone!
Part 3 of the WnW On the Prowl Collection is here!

Today I have Jungle Fever, a rich metallic green with green micro shimmer.  I'm not too big on green polishes. This one really doesn't sway me here nor there, but it's really not bad! It's just not my color preference, so I was biased going into it. Such a shame though, because I really do like this shade...just not for my nails.

This was 2 coats with one top coat of SV. I'm fighting to love this polish, I really am! But this is just not my kind of green...for nails anyway. I'm sure I'd rock it if it were a winter scarf...or a pair of earrings lol.

Soooo...thoughts? How do you feel about Jungle Fever? (the polish, people! Jungle Fever the nail polish! LOL)
